First Year Girls Futsal Leinster Finals Wed 23rd Nov


The girls played five matches in total. Their first match was against neighbours, Presentation Kilkenny. The match started at a quick pace. Presentation dominated from the early stages. Sarah made some super saves in the goal and there were some great passes between the players. Unlucky Borris lost 6 - 0 to Presentation.


Their next match was against Moyne Community School, Co.Longford. The game started at a frenetic pace with both sides full of determination. Both teams tried really hard to get goals. Borris were unlucky to miss a few goal chances from Caoimhe and Lauren. Borris came narrowly short with Moyne coming out 1-0 winners.


In their next game, they were up against Athlone Community College, Co.Westmeath. The game started with some great saves by Sarah. There was some intelligent play by defenders Maeve and Eabha, working the ball up the court. Then when Caoimhe got the ball at her feet, she turned and stuck the ball in the back of the net. Athlone reacted quickly with two classy goals making them 2-1 winners.


Their next match was against Scoil Mhuire. The game began with a quick goal by Scoil Mhuire. Borris reacted with some defensive work from Eabha and Maeve and also some slick passing from Lauren and Caoimhe. After a few minutes, Caoimhe got a lovely pass from Lauren and tapped it into the back of the net. Borris were unlucky to concede a late goal. Eabha Kelly got player of the match for her great effort throughout the game.


Their last game was against Caritas College, Co. Dublin. The Borris girls started at a blistering pace with a narrowly missed shot by Caoimhe. Eabha then played a great ball to Caoimhe who then put it in the top corner. Lauren made some crucial tackles. Caoimhe and Lauren put hard pressure on Caritas. Caoimhe then got a brilliant long range goal with lovely passes from her teammates. Caoimhe then got another goal for her hat trick. Then Lauren got a lovely goal to give Borris a 4-0 victory. Best for Borris were Eabha, Caoimhe, Maeve and Sarah.
